Kia ora ē te whānau,

As we move towards the end of another busy and successful term, our school is full of learning, energy, and excitement. Teachers are working hard to complete mid-year reports, while classrooms continue to buzz with fantastic learning and engagement from our tamariki.

Winter Sports Day was an absolute highlight, and we were incredibly proud of the way our students represented One Tree Point School with enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We are also looking forward to our upcoming Matariki celebrations — a special time to come together, reflect, and celebrate as a school community.

Thank you to our wonderful whānau for your ongoing support. Our tamariki continue to make us proud every day with the way they show our CARE values both in and out of the classroom.

Winters Sports
What an incredible day of sport, teamwork, and school spirit alongside Maunguroto, Waipu, and Ruakaka Schools! Our tamariki represented One Tree Point School with pride, showing fantastic sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork across hockey, netball, football, and rippa rugby.

A huge thank you to our amazing parent managers, Bream Bay College student referees, PTA, and staff who helped make the day such a success. Special thanks to Whaea Lianne for all of her mahi coordinating the tournament and supporting our teams in the lead-up to the event.

It was a fantastic day filled with fun, encouragement, and lifelong memories for our tamariki

Matariki

Time is flying by and our Matariki festival is drawing closer! An important reminder that we close at 12:00pm on Thursday 2nd July.

The afternoon will showcase the creativity and talents of our tamariki through a special art exhibition, alongside kapa haka rōpū from across Bream Bay performing together in celebration of Matariki.

Thank you to everyone who has already made generous donations of time, vouchers and kai; it's really humbling to work in such a supportive community. Please keep sending donations to the office; the 'shopping list' request will be continually updated so please keep an eye on our Facebook page.

We will need help in the days leading up to Matariki setting up the art exhibition, preparing hāngi as well as help on the day.  We will be sending out details next week. If you are able to lend a hand, please email the office.

New Reports - Emailed!
Due to the new format of our reports, these will be emailed to all whānau; please ensure your email details are up to date.

As part of the ongoing rollout of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, schools across New Zealand are required to move to a new way of reporting student progress. This includes new year-level learning expectations and new progress descriptors — Emerging, Developing, Consolidating, Proficient, and Exceeding. We are using the new reporting format for the first time at the end of this term.

It is important for families to understand that the expectations for achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics, are now significantly higher than previously, which may mean some children appear to be achieving at a lower level than in the past. This does not mean children have gone backwards, but rather that the expectations for achieving at the expected level have changed. A more detailed email explaining these changes and what they mean for your child’s report will be sent to families shortly.

Holiday Programme – Limited Spaces Available!

We still have a few spaces available in our upcoming Holiday Programme. Our programme offers a fun, safe, and engaging environment for tamariki during the school holidays.

To book your child’s place, please email: admin@otp.school.nz
