Kia ora ē te whānau,
As most of you will now know, I have accepted the position of Principal at Silverstream School in Wellington and will be leaving One Tree Point School at the end of this year. I have been incredibly touched by the many kind messages, conversations and words of support I have received since sharing this news with our community. One Tree Point School has been such an important part of my life for more than ten years, and while I am genuinely excited about the new challenge ahead, leaving this very special school and community will be incredibly hard. Thank you for the warmth, generosity and support you have shown me — it means more than you know. For now, there is still plenty of the year ahead, and I am looking forward to making the most of every moment with our wonderful students, staff and community.
Cross Country
A huge thank you to Whaea Lianne for organising our school cross country this week. It was a stunning day and everything ran so smoothly! The sun shone, everyone showed up and gave it their best, and it was heartwarming to see the determination of our tamariki as they worked hard to complete the course. Just as special was the encouragement and support they showed for one another along the way. Thank you also to Richard for setting up the course, and to all the whānau who came along to cheer on and support our runners. It was a fantastic school community day.

Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day with providing supervision and monitoring on the course, traffic management, race management and helping with the sausage sizzle and lunch packs. Your support really made the day!
Sickness
There are a number of nasty flu bugs and other viruses circulating at the moment, and we are currently seeing very high numbers of both students and staff away sick. Unfortunately, we are also seeing some children return to school before they are fully well, which can contribute to illness spreading further. We know how difficult it can be managing sick children at home, and we really appreciate your support in keeping your child home until they are well enough to return. This helps protect not only your child, but also their classmates, our staff and the wider school community.

Quick Reminder — School is OPEN Next Friday 21st August!
At the beginning of the year, we had a Teacher Only Day scheduled for next Friday. This was cancelled earlier in the year and has not been on our calendar since.
We know some of our super-organised whānau may still have the original date tucked away in their diaries, so just to make sure no one gets caught out:
✅ School is open as usual next Friday!
No day off for the tamariki this time 😄
We’ll see everyone here for a normal school day!
